1) Where to Live in Wolverhampton
Whitmore Reans
Approximately between 10-20 minutes’ walk to main City Campus and the City, which boasts an excellent night life and a wide range of high street shops. The area is next to a 24-hour Asda and local shops in Whitmore Reans.
It is the most popular area for student accommodation!
Blakenhall
Situated off the Main Road from Wolverhampton to Dudley. Also within easy reach of the main road to Birmingham. Blakenhall is popular with students who have lectures on the Wolverhampton campus and Dudley campus because of ease of access to both sites. Generally, student accommodation in this area is in terraced housing. Approximately 15-20 minutes’ walk to City campus via Wolverhampton City Centre. A 20 minute bus ride to reach the Dudley Campus. Ranges of local shops are available on the Dudley Road.
Goldthorn Park (including the Park Hall Estate)
A good residential area consisting of mostly semi-detached houses with some detached houses and bungalows. Approximately 15 minutes by bus to Wolverhampton City Centre. Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in operation.
Parkfields and Lanesfield
Mixture of housing. Approximately 15-20 minutes by bus to Wolverhampton City Centre.
All Saints Areas
Location near to main road to Wolverhampton, Dudley and Birmingham. Regular bus services. Near to Sainsburys supermarket. Approximately 15 minutes bus ride to Dudley campus. Approximately 15-20 minutes’ walk to main site and Wolverhampton town centre.
Pennfields and Merridale
Approximately 15-20 minutes’ walk to the university City campus and the town. Our Compton park campus is also approx. 15 minutes’ walk from merridale and 20-25 minutes’ walk from Pennfields. There are also regular bus services. Both areas are verry popular with the students. There is a good range of local shops at Pennfields - grocery, chemist, newsagents. Plus HSBC Bank, Post Office, garage etc. in both Pennfields and Merridale there are a number of corner shops, which are open for late evening shopping.
This area also has a Safeway supermarket, Drive-in, McDonalds and Kentucky Chicken, plus Chinese Take-Away, Fish and Chips etc.
Penn and Bradmore
Typical suburban residential area. There are lots of semi-detached houses and also, particularly in Penn there are pockets of good quality detached housing. Bus services are generally good and would take between 10-20 minutes. There are Neighbourhood watch schemes in Penn and Bradmore. Penn and Bradmore both have neighbourhood-shopping facilities.
